A LITTLE SCIENCE BEHIND THE LOVE

A healthy weight matters.

Good care begins with understanding. Here’s what the research tells us.

DOGS

Weight and years together

A study of 50,787 neutered dogs across 12 breeds linked excess weight in middle age with shorter lifespans. The difference varied by breed.

CATS

Body condition is part of the picture

Among 2,609 cats, low or severely obese maximum recorded body condition scores were associated with shorter survival. The findings do not mean every overweight cat has a shorter life.
